When you need tree removal

  • A tree that is dead, dying, hollow or shedding large limbs
  • Roots or trunks pushing on a foundation, driveway, septic line or fence
  • A trunk that has started to lean after wind, ice or saturated ground
  • Storm damage: split crowns, hung-up limbs, uprooted root plates
  • Trees too close to the house, garage, pool or power line to prune safely
  • Clearing space for an addition, a shed, a new driveway or a pool

Most removals on Grand Island are not open-field jobs. Lots are a mix of waterfront, wooded and tight suburban parcels, and a lot of the big silver maples, willows and cottonwoods sit right beside the house. That is why we work from the top down: climb, rig, lower sections on ropes, and keep the weight off the roof, the fence and the neighbor’s hedge.

Every job starts with a walk-around and a straight answer on whether the tree really has to come down. If pruning or cabling will do the job for less money, we will tell you that. If it needs to go, you get a clear quote before any work starts, and the price covers hauling the wood and brush away unless you want the logs left for firewood.

How we do it

  1. 1
Walk the propertyWe look at the tree, the targets under it, access for the truck and chipper, and any lines or structures in the fall zone.
  2. 2
Quote in writingYou get a clear price for the removal, cleanup and (if you want it) stump grinding. No surprises on the day.
  3. 3
Climb, rig and lowerSections are cut and lowered under control so nothing lands on the roof, lawn, fence or septic area.
  4. 4
Clean and haulBrush is chipped, wood is hauled or stacked as you prefer, and we rake and blow the work area before we leave.

What affects the price

Price depends on the tree’s height and trunk size, how close it is to buildings and lines, whether a truck and chipper can reach it, how much has to be rigged instead of dropped, and whether the stump is ground. A leaning or storm-damaged tree costs more than a healthy one in an open yard because the risk and the rigging are higher. Ask for the stump to be ground at the same visit and we will quote them together.

FAQ

Tree Removal FAQ

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Grand Island?

For a tree on your own private lot, usually not, but trees in the town right-of-way and some protected or waterfront areas can have rules. Tell us the address when you call and we will point you to the right office before we schedule.

Is the cleanup included?

Yes. Brush is chipped and hauled, wood is removed or left for you, and the work area is raked and blown clean. Stump grinding is quoted as an add-on.

Can you remove a tree that is leaning toward my house?

Yes, that is routine for us. We rig the tree down in sections instead of felling it, so the weight never swings toward the structure.

How fast can you get here?

For a tree that is on or against a structure, call and say so. We run an emergency line and give priority to anything that is an active hazard.
