When you need tree trimming & pruning
- Dead, broken or hanging branches after wind, ice or heavy snow
- Limbs touching or scraping the roof, siding, gutters or chimney
- Branches growing toward service lines or blocking driveway clearance
- A dense crown that blocks light or holds water and invites decay
- Young trees that need structural pruning to grow with a strong frame
- Pre-winter inspection of mature trees on the river side of the island
Wind comes straight off the Niagara River, and lake-effect snow and ice load the crowns every winter. Trees with weak unions, co-dominant leaders or deadwood in the top are the ones that drop limbs in a storm. Pruning those problems out early costs a fraction of what a failed limb costs after the fact.
We prune to the tree, not to a template. That means making clean cuts at the branch collar, never topping, never removing more than the tree can afford to lose in one visit, and being honest when a tree is past saving and trimming would only be putting money into it.
How we do it
-
1Assess the treeWe check structure, deadwood, included bark and the targets underneath before deciding what to cut.
-
2Agree the scopeYou decide the goal: clearance, health, view or safety. We quote exactly that.
-
3Prune properlyClean cuts at the collar, correct branch size, no topping, no flush cuts.
-
4Chip and clean upAll debris is chipped or hauled and the area is left tidy.
What affects the price
Trimming is priced on the size and number of trees, how much wood comes out, and how hard the crown is to reach. A single clearance cut on a small tree is a short visit. A mature maple with deadwood throughout the crown takes a climber most of a morning. We quote by the job, not by the hour, so you know the number up front.

FAQ
Tree Trimming & Pruning FAQ
Straight answers before you pick up the phone.
When is the best time to trim trees in Western New York?
Dead and hazardous wood can come out any time. For routine pruning, late fall through early spring while trees are dormant is ideal for most species. Oaks are the exception, and are best pruned in the colder months only.
How much can you take off in one visit?
As a rule no more than about a quarter of the live crown. More than that stresses the tree and usually causes weak, fast regrowth.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping damages trees and creates hazards. If a tree is too tall for its spot we reduce it properly, or recommend replacing it.
Will you clean up the branches?
Yes. Cleanup and hauling are part of every trim.
